Laurence Schroeder is a freelance retoucher, photo editor, designer, art director and musician. His collaborative approach to imagery and assets involves extensive consultation with clients in order to pinpoint their needs and provide a variety of options to determine what best suits their objectives. Among his strengths are clear and concise communication resulting in creative consensus for all parties involved, extreme attention to detail and quick turnarounds.

In 2022, Laurence joined the photo publicity team at CBS Television as photo editor. Here, he worked on such acclaimed productions as Young Sheldon, S.W.A.T., Fire Country. He also handled the gallery images for such legacy IPs as Survivor, The Young and the Restless, CBS News and 60 Minutes. Laurence was behind-the-scenes at the Golden Globes and Grammys, providing high-speed photo editing and retouching of live photography from the red carpet and at the awards ceremonies.

From 2010 to 2021 Laurence was an essential part of The Walt Disney Studios’ publicity department. He specializes in conceiving and designing magazine covers, producing photo shoots, retouching and finishing large-volume film frames and unit stills for use across publishing, licensing and consumer products. He has worked on over 50 major film publicity campaigns including every Marvel production since 2010 and every Lucasfilm production since 2011. His work has graced the covers of major global publications such as Entertainment Weekly, People, Rolling Stone and Empire Magazine featuring high-profile blockbusters films such as Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the first-look shoot of the cast of Black Panther.

Laurence is a born musician. At the age of 22, his Chicago-based power-pop band, ExtraVery was signed to Warner Brother Records. He did extensive recording sessions with marquee producers in major studios across the globe including Mayfair in London, England, Bearsville in Woodstock, New York, House of Blues in Memphis, Tennessee, and Rax Trax and Gravity in Chicago, Illinois. As the principal musician and co-songwriter in ExtraVery, Laurence was heavily involved in all aspects of the studio recordings, working closely with both the producers and engineers in every session. 

Over the last two decades Laurence has produced and performed in numerous bands as well as his own solo projects. During the course of this time, he has developed his studio skills becoming proficient on Logic Pro X and Pro Tools, as well as establishing practical audio engineering capabilities. These experiences have transferred into Laurence sound mixing for films and producing and audio editing podcasts, including episodes of Variety’s “Strictly Business” podcast. Laurence has also composed the theme music for two of Variety’s most popular video series, Actors on Actors and Directors on Directors. Laurence lives in Los Angeles, where almost every room in his home is a performance or recording space.
